Teacher Gift Shadow Box | Lawn Fawn Fans Spring YouTube Hop

Hello!

Can you believe it’s time for another hop already? I feel like this one has snuck up on me a little!

Here is my piece for the Lawn Fawn Fans Spring YouTube Hop!

I absolutely love this hop, as it was the first one I was ever invited to be a part of, and at this point, it’s still my only consistent hop!

The crafters in this small group are some of the MOST talented creators I’ve met and I just love working with them. Being a part of this group gives me the same feeling I get when I watch Lawn Fawn videos – everyone is so happy, supportive and kind to one another. Exactly kind to kind of crafty circle everyone deserves.

My shadow box idea came to my mind the moment I saw the little pop up desk. I’m obviously very excited to use it in cards, but the idea to put it in a shadow box just kept coming to mind until I finally decided “OK! I’ll do it!” in an attempt to appease the crafter chatter in my mind.

I’ve mentioned many times that we live in a very small house. So when I decide to make 3D projects, I try to have someone in mind to give them to as we don’t have a lot of space to store them forever.
That’s when I thought about teachers!

My son has the most wonderful Kindy teachers! Before leaving my job to have my son, I worked with those two wonderful women everyday. They truly are the best, and I love to show our appreciation for those who care for my son when he’s out in the world, learning new things.

I can’t even begin to image what life was like for educators across the globe, especially last year. With virtual learning happening everywhere, teachers suddenly not seeing their kids every day and trying to work out how to best teach lessons that I’m sure aren’t easy, even in person, in a whole new way. Educators are just so resilient, I truly admire the way they take on all challenges whilst navigating the regular schooling politics and, let’s be honest, terribly average pay and hours upon hours of work after hours.

Just try to convince me that they’re not worth their weight in gold. You won’t change my mind ?

So, even though It’s still early days in our schooling year here in Aus, I figured with so many of my followers and subscribers being in the northern hemisphere and the US, this might be a nice project to keep in mind before the kids go on their Summer break.

I was an Early Childhood Educator. My favourite age group to work with was 3-4 year olds. So my shadow box looks much more like a Kindy room than it would a classroom for big kids. But that’s the beauty of this – you can change it up however you like! There are so many stamp sets out there that would make such great additions depending on what the kids are learning.

I think it would also be a super cute layout for an office/craft room – maybe an idea I should work on in the future!

Once I had added all of the adorable little elements in this scene, I still felt like something was missing. So some super quick personalisation with some vinyl and my Cricut Maker finished this off nicely with my son’s teacher’s name.
