Hello!
Today I am sharing a card with you that has got me all excited!
I am loving the latest release by Lawn Fawn and was super keen to get to work on some cards to show you (I have more coming soon – be on the lookout for a seasonal hop!).
It’s not often that I make a card that I am 100% happy with, but I feel this one truly shows how far my skills have come in terms of creating a scene, sticking to a colour scheme and finding the right placement of images.
These little squirrels are just the cutest! We don’t have them here in Australia, but I really hope to see one in person some day!
As I mention in my YouTube video on how I made this card (see below for link), we watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation every year on Christmas Eve. It’s an odd tradition, but it’s one that’s stuck with us for a very long time. It’s actually something that I’ve just realised we might have to rethink or skip a couple of scene with my nearly 4 year old. While he’s a great little boy, he’s always listening to what’s going on around him and I’m not sure I need him walking around Christmas Day, telling my in-laws that the “Sh***er’s full”.
The reason I bring this movie up is for two reasons – the word “nuthouse” comes up in a rant and at one point in the movie, a squirrel manages to get inside the house and cause complete chaos. So this card really fits in with what goes on at Christmas time for us!
I just love how all the squirrels are in such different poses – there are going to be many uses for these little critters!
I hope you love this card as much as I do! Here is my video if you’re interested in seeing it all come together. My list of supplies is below.

The card is adorable. I didn’t realize that you don’t have squirrels in Australia. I feed the squirrels in my backyard and enjoy them so much. I love everything about your card but I think the little squirrel asleep on the couch is really cute. Also, I’m impressed by the way you altered the face of the squirrel in the picture hanging on the wall.
Thanks so much, Carole!
Yes, unfortunately we are one of only two places on the planet that isn’t lucky enough to have squirrels. Apparently they were introduced a little over 100 years ago but they quickly *disappeared* as they couldn’t compete with the tough Aussie possums for food and they were too tasty a treat for our many snakes ? ?
I’m glad you like the squirrel in the portrait, he’s one of my favourite things about this funny card!
